Summer Holidays

Due to there being too many people to fit in a car the holiday started out with a 10 hour train journey with my dog. Fortunately Jasper rather enjoys being on the train and spent the entire time sleeping or being fed sandwiches.

I was rather surprised at the number of people who asked me if it cost more to travel with an animal. As it turns out animals are counted as luggage which you can take on the train for free.

Sunset over bay at Brixham

We were staying in Brixham which is a small fishing town just down the coast from Torquay. It ended up being a really nice place to spend a week even though there wasn’t much to do apart from sitting on the beach.

Of course as soon as we arrived at the apartment Jasper got to work and sniffed out a tennis ball that some previous occupant had left behind.

We took a steam train to Dartmouth for a day. The highlight of the day ended up being the trip on the steam train as it turns out there really isn’t much to do in Dartmouth. Which was surprising considering the number of tourists.

Hanging out with Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Okay he was sort of made out of cardboard.

closeup image of daisys in harbour

Just after taking this photo I had to stop to put my phone away and immediately got yelled at by some foreign tourist as they were apparently trying to take a photo of the harbour and I just happened to be in the way.

And that is all for now. Part 2 will be posted later this week where we spend a day in Plymouth and see The Prince Of Wales.
