Acts of Contrition by Kirsten Beyer.

Acts of Contrition is the latest book in the Star Trek Voyager reboot series. The series takes place after the finale of the show. This book sees Admiral Kathryn Janeway along with a fleet of ships back in the Delta Quadrant. Their mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilisations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

I will admit these books are not amazing works of literature. They are practically fanfiction, to be honest I’m not even sure if they are considered canon. But I love them anyway and this latest book ends in the mother of all cliffhangers. Call me a nerd all you want but I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Thanks for reading.

I know just what you mean. I read all the original series paperbacks way back when. With all those different authors, the quality differed vastly, but I loved them all with only a very few exceptions.

The quality problem isn’t so bad with the new voyager books. I think there have only been 2 authors writing that series. But I can totally understand what you mean with the TOS books. Isn’t there hundreds of them?

I absolutely adore Star Trek but have never tried reading a novelisation… despite reading a lot of ff. Maybe I was holding out for that copy of A Stitch in Time that I’m never going to get. Can you recommend a good book to start?

For most of the books set during a series you can pretty much start with any book you want.

But if you are starting with a series like the Voyager reboot or the Titan series the best place to start is with the first book in that series. If I knew what Star Trek series you liked best I could give you a better recommendation.

Here is a wikipedia page with all the Star Trek novels. There are hundreds to choose from.

That sounds like a sensible place to start. I’m mostly a DS9 girl (Garak, Julian, Dax in terms of character preference) though Voyager in general and TNG are also great. I’m still hankering after A Stitch in Time.

Woooow, just seeing Kathryn Janeway’s name brings back memories. I watched a couple seasons of Voyager, though I, too, was the most into Deep Space Nine. That stint in the 90s is as sci-fi as I’ve ever been in my life. 😀 Should’ve considered there’d be ST novels.
