Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman

Northern Lights by Philip Pullman.

I first read Northern Lights when I was 12 or 13. I found it really interesting reading a book I loved as a kid. There are so many references to the bible and greek mythology that I just didn’t get the first time I read it. I actually found out that the series was originally named The Golden Compasses, after a line in Paradise Lost. I’m really excited to continue this series and will hopefully be buying The Subtle Knife at some point this week. I though I would be able to wait till after Christmas before buying it but I can’t.

Thanks for reading.

I read this when my daughter got it out of the library when she was a kid. A really good read, and great that it is a series 🙂

I had no idea, that’s great. I’ve only seen the movie Golden Compass so I will read the book…

Ah, I read this recently and it’s definitely up there with my favourite series! I thought Northern Lights was the original though and The Golden Compass was the American version!

Oh God. I discovered after watching the film that I will cry stoically at any story with kids in danger. It was very emotional, quietly and secretly emotional but emotional still.
