Two Years

Two Years |

Like the Queen my blog has two birthdays. The first is the date I created this blog, which is October 9th 2010. The second is the date I pressed the publish button on my first post, which is December 31st 2012. So depending on which way you look at it my blog is either two or four years old. Personally I prefer to celebrate the anniversary of my first post which means this blog is 2 years old today.

I keep saying this but these last two years have been crazy. My life has changed so much, this last year in particular and I’m still trying to decide if this change is for the better. But the one constant through the last year has been this blog and the wonderful support from all of you. I started 2014 with just under 100 followers and I am ending this year with over 3000. I wish I could thank every single one of you personally for following. I didn’t start out this blog to become popular and I am totally amazed that you would all want to read the stuff that I write.

I’ve been thinking and decided that since I have quite a good following that next year I am going to write more stuff that you want to read. I know that just by following me you like the stuff I write. But I want to know if there is anything specific you want me to write about in the new year. Do you want more book stuff or more art stuff. Do you want me to do a blogging 101 series? Or maybe you want more real life stuff. Or maybe there is something else you want me to write about? Leave your suggestions in the comments and I will add them to my list of posts to write.

Wishing you a happy new year.

    • I dunno I feel like I’ve been stuck in a rut for the last month but thats probably just me. The thing with asking others for ideas is even though I might not take that exact idea it can inspire other ones.

      And thanks πŸ˜€

  1. Wow, congrats! Happy anniversary! My blog has two anniversaries too! First is October 10th, when I created it, and the second is when I made my first post the next day, October 11. I refer to my anniversary as the first one.
    But anyways, happy anniversary!

  2. I have found your book reviews so helpful and inspiring. I’m reading another of your recommendations at the moment! I understand what you mean about feeling stuck in a rut (I can sometimes feel that I’m only blogging when I’ve cooked the next Marcella recipe) but I don’t feel that you are in a rut. Keep up the good work. Did you ever post (early on in your blog’s life, before I was following) about why your blog is called ‘Blu Chicken Ninja’? I’d love to know.

  3. Happy Blog Birthday! And Happy New Year! πŸ™‚ …Write about whatever you want..I like reading a variety of posts! Wishing you many more blog birthdays, Emma!

  4. G’day Emma,
I actually dropped in to thank you for your visit to my page and have been flicking through your pieces for some time. Congratulations on hitting the 3000 mark. that alone suggests to me you are doing the best thing, being yourself and going where your mind takes you, followers wouldn’t be there if they wern’t enjoying your words, Happy New Year πŸ™‚

  5. Congrats on sticking with it for long enough to prove you were right starting off in the first place! You liked my post about soap socks ( so I thought I’d pop over and have a read… Love your blog and will be reading more when I have time πŸ™‚ Personally, as a new blogger, I’d love to hear more of your blogging story – the highs and lows and how to’s. Here’s to the next 2 years! Nikki x

  6. Just don’t stop doing book reviews! I love getting a real person’s opinion about books – especially someone with such an eclectic reading list. Professional book reviewers have their own agendas and I never trust their reviews.
