“Of all the delectable islands the Neverland is the snuggest and most compact, not large and sprawly, you know, with tedious distances between one adventure and another, but nicely crammed. When you play at it by day with the chairs and table-cloth, it is not in the least alarming, but in the two minutes before you go to sleep it becomes very nearly real. That is why there are night-lights. ”
I love this quote from Peter Pan. However I love a specific version of this quote. I am talking about the version that JK Rowling read during the London Olympics opening ceremony. Now I may be a little biased here (and I have not watched many opening ceremony’s) but London’s was the best. I mean the entire spectacle was great but that sequence with the kids from Great Ormond Street Hospital and the huge puppet villains was fantastic.
I love how that reading fit so nicely into the show. Also that moment where the 60 foot Voldemort is defeated by Mary Poppins is a thing I will never forget.
