There is a shop in Glasgow called Voltaire and Rousseau.
It may look unassuming.
But they have many books.
Many many books.
Some books may be terrible but there are gems to be found.
And they have a cat.
Thanks for reading.
Find me on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads.
I’ll add it to my list of places to go! Thank you!
Yaaaaaaay. You’re welcome 🙂
Oh my gosh! I love bookstores like this. There is one in my hometown like it, but it isn’t complete with a resident cat in the box. I should suggest they get one 😉
Yes you should definately suggest that!
I would spend days there in spite of the cat. I’m allergic to cats, but would sniffle and itch my way through every book.
great bookshop! I saw one similar once…it was so packed, customers almost had to side step to get through…..nuch as I love bookshops it scared ME… what a fire trap…I left as soon as I could without even browsing…and that is remarkable for me. This shop was impassible. Yes, they had cats.
Yeah it wouldn’t be good if they had a fire.
I am not usually a gloomy gus, but my husband was a fire-fighter, and he managed to instill the fear of fire in me! 🙂 I loved the bookshop, though…great photos. 🙂
I can dream about it, can’t it? Maybe when I finally get to that side of the Atlantic…
it looks so charming!
I would go to Glasgow just for this bookshop 😍
You totally should!
Hi Emma! I hope to visit this bookshop one day – funny to see a book about Montreal (my hometown) peeking out from a box 😉 It also reminds me of Paris’ Shakespeare & Co, have you been? (Though it might have closed already..?) So chock-full of treasured, dog-eared books, from all around the world. Thanks for sharing.
It’s amazing what you can find in shops like that! Unfortunately I haven’t been to Shakespeare & Co, always wanted to go though!
Yes, it’s nice to know that books (the ‘real’ kind) still exist and are loved by many!
Very cool! Great suggestion. Love the photographs too.
A cat in the bookstore is always the icing on the cake for me. This place looks awesome.
Its so funny because I’ve literally never seen that cat move from it’s box. It must be the laziest cat in the world!
I’ll absolutely add it go my list of places to go if I’m ever in the area! It looks like a treasure cave!
