The Bookish Lover Tag

I was tagged by Tasha over at The Bookie Monsters to do this book tag thing and it looks like fun. It was originally created by Shantelle.

What book are you currently reading?

The Bookish Lover Tag | The Bookish Lover Tag | The Bookish Lover Tag |

I can’t read just one book at a time so:
Good Morning, Midnight because I found it on Netgalley and I liked the cover.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy because I fell in love with the movie and really wanted to read the book.
The Abyss Beyond Dreams because I really like Peter F Hamilton’s books and I requested the sequel on Netgalley.

What’s the last book you finished?

I liked Stiletto but I was a tad disappointed with it as well because it just wasn’t as good as The Rook.

Favourite book you read this year?

You’re probably all tired of hearing about this book now but I’m literally never going to stop talking about it because I freaking love this book.

What genre have you read most this year?

It’s probably going to be science-fiction. I really try and read a varied selection of books but I’ve been going through a sci-fi phase recently. I’m just going to blame all the authors releasing really good sci-fi books right now.

What genre have you read least this year?

I think I’ve only read 1 fantasy book so far this year so probably that genre. Not that I’m too bothered about it, I got bored of fantasy books.

What genre do you want to read more of?

Over the past few years I’ve been trying to read some classics but I’ve been doing a really bad job so far this year. I even went and bought a copy of Plato’s Republic after reading The Just City by Jo Walton and it’s been sitting on my shelf for the last 3 months.

How many books have you read this year, and what’s your goal?

My goal every year is 52 books and so far this year I’ve read 31 books so I should make my goal. Though since I haven’t been getting the train to college every day I’ve been reading way less than I would normally.

What’s the last book you bought?

The Bookish Lover Tag | The Bookish Lover Tag |

Yeah I know thats a weird mix of books but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also I may or may not be collecting the Stephen Baxter books just because I like the covers.

What book are you saving up to buy next?

Probably more of Stephen Baxter’s books. Or maybe an art book. I’m really not wanting anything specific right now.

How many books did you check out last library visit?

I hardly ever borrow anything from the library because I have to borrow ebooks and they have a terrible selection and I can’t read them on my Kindle which makes it even more annoying. But I think I got a book around Christmas time. I think…

What’s a book you can’t wait to read?

Uhh the sequel to Luna by Ian McDonald should be coming out soon, I’m quite excited about that (Edit: I just found out it’s not coming out till February 2017 which sucks). I just pre-ordered A Closed And Common Orbit by Becky Chambers even though it’s not coming out till October. I had really hoped there would be another Robert Galbraith book coming out this year but I think JK is too busy with other things just now.

What’s a series you’d recommend to everyone?

The Bookish Lover Tag | The Bookish Lover Tag | The Bookish Lover Tag |

Probably The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix. I think it’s one of the best fantasy series I’ve ever read.

Who’s an author you’re hoping writes more?

If Kirsten Beyer could just continue writing Star Trek: Voyager books till she dies I would be so happy. And then kinda not happy cause she dead but yeah. Kirsten Beyer.

A few books your heart adores?

The Martian by Andy Weir. Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel. Luna by Ian McDonald. The Killing Moon by NK Jemisin. World War Z by Max Brooks. A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson. Seveneves by Neal Stephenson (which is getting made into a movie OMG!!!!). That was more than a few…

What series’ coming conclusion makes you sad?

The Bookish Lover Tag |

I know that A Closed and Common Orbit isn’t technically a sequel to The Long Way To A Small Angry, Planet but I really love the universe The Long Way is set in and I really want more stories in it though I don’t think it will happen.

What books are on your wish-list?

The Bookish Lover Tag |

I don’t want to talk about it.

Thanks for reading.
