I found this tag over at Mercys Bookish Musings and basically what you have to do is pick a few books and read the first chapter of each. You then decide if you want to continue reading the book or not. The whole point being to quickly reduce the size of your TBR (I don’t even want to talk about mine). I thought I would do this since it looked like fun and I’m going to tag Tasha and Jessica to do this next because I bet they have horrifying TBRs too.
I can’t really tell much from this. The first chapter is more like a prologue. It involves a character living in the desert who for some reason ends up freezing to death. I think I would want to continue reading just to find out what the heck is going on.
This is set at some point in the future in India. We meet the main character just after someone she is close to tried to kill her. The rest of the chapter is about her trying to escape her home town without being noticed. I think this is going to be an adventure type book, it sounds pretty interesting so far. I’m going to be honest. I’ll probably finish this just because the author makes a reference to Tolkien.
This book doesn’t actually have chapters so I read the first 5 pages instead. So far all I know is the main character is called Evie and she just woke up from surgery after having a rib removed. I think this could be interesting, I really don’t know enough to have a proper opinion.
This seems to be about a character who can travel between different versions of London (he also apparently has a coat that lets him blend in). He brings a letter to King George the III from the ruler of another London (apparently the royals know about the multiple London’s and talk to each other). I think I would keep reading this just for the magic coat (also because the internet literally won’t stop talking about this book).
So I only read the prologue which is two pages. All you find out is that the characters school is burned down (possibly by some angry bloggers). I was also quite surprised to find out that this book is set in the UK. I thought it took place in America. Oh there was also an email exchange about a place called Universe City. I know this book is about a podcast so maybe this is something similar to Welcome To Night Vale. I’m actually quite excited to continue reading this.
