5 Books On My Fall TBR

I realise that since I’m in the UK the title should actually say ‘5 books on my Autumn TBR’ but I think Fall sounds better. Anyway here is 5 books I’m hoping to read soon. And just for clarity I got this post idea from the Top Ten Tuesday meme from The Broke and The Bookish but I’m too late for the link up bit.

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. I had originally intended on waiting for the paperback version of this book to be released. But after a number of people on Twitter telling me how good it was I gave in and bought it. I’m not really sure what it’s about but I can tell you the cover is really nice.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. This is the sequel to Six of Crows and I’ve actually started reading it but my CFS has been really bad just now so I’m averaging about 10 pages a day and it’s nowhere near enough because I love this series and the characters.

Madness and Memory by Stanley B. Prusiner. I read a book called The Family That Couldn’t Sleep because I saw people on Reddit talking about prion diseases. And a part of that book was about Mad Cow Disease which I remember happening but it was one of those things that I was really young at the time and didn’t totally understand how serious it was. Anyway I bought another book about prions cause they are really interesting in a terrifying way.

Goldenhand by Garth Nix. This is the sequel to Abhorsen by Garth Nix and the thing you have to understand about this book is I have literally been waiting since 2003 for it. So I’m trying to not get hyped up (since it’s coming out tomorrow (Oct 4th)) just incase it’s not very good. But I’m really hoping it will be.

A Closed And Common Orbit by Becky Chambers. This is set in the same universe as The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet (which I loved see my review), I don’t think it’s a direct sequel but it does continue on from that book. This isn’t out till the 20th of October but I have it on pre-order and I’m very excited about reading it.

Thanks for reading.

Some great looking books here Emma. I’m still wondering why I haven’t read any Garth Nix yet, fool that I am. Any recommendations for him? Love the look of the Crooked Kingdom and Nevernight. Will look forward to your reviews when they come 🙂

Yes you need to read some Garth Nix! Start with Sabriel and read the full Old Kingdom series. I’ve never really read any of his other books. I started the Keys to the Kingdom series but didn’t finished it.

The old kingdom books are definitely one of those underrated fantasy series. I think it’s technically YA but it came out before YA was a thing. But yes you have to read it then tell me what you think!

I have no prejudice against YA, though a lot of people do which I think is weird as most of it can be classed as ‘crossover’ and suitable for adults too. Patrick Ness is a wonderful author for instance, so is Malory Blackman and one of my favourite books recently was Skellig by David Almond – nothing childish about that one.
I’ll look forward to searching them out, thanks Emma 🙂
